Method: region totals are area-weighted with cosine-latitude weights over valid IMD grid cells. State and union territory boundaries use geoBoundaries ADM1 geometries. Day rankings compare against the selected region's baseline mean daily rainfall for that calendar month; month rankings compare against the baseline monthly mean. Percentage anomaly is 100 x (rainfall - normal) / normal.
Climate modes: MJO and BSISO phases use IPRC 25-90 day filtered daily PC indices; ENSO, IOD and NAO thresholds use monthly anomaly/index series from the bundled NOAA/PSL-style climate index archive.
